Parts We Carry
Basehor has about 2,621 households, which is a small enough base that we don't stock a warehouse of parts specific to this one town - but that actually works in your favor here. The median home in Basehor was built around 2004, well after most of the older Kansas City-area stock (which runs 1950 to 2004 with a lot of it from the '60s and '70s). That means most Basehor garage doors are steel sectional units in standard factory widths and heights, with foam-backed panels rather than the solid, heavier boards you find on older doors elsewhere in the service area. How We Fix It
We pull the damaged section, unbolt it from the hinges and end stiles, and set the new panel in without disturbing the rest of the door if we can help it. On a 2004-era sectional door that's usually straightforward: the track alignment and hinge spacing are standard, so the replacement panel bolts in clean. We check the roller and cable on either side of the damaged section too, since a dented panel often took a hit that stressed the hardware next to it, and we're already 10 miles out from Kansas City so we'd rather find that on the first trip than the second.
If the door was hit hard enough to bow the track or knock a hinge out of true, we straighten or replace that piece before the new panel goes in - a panel bolted to a bent track will bind and wear out early. We test full travel up and down, check balance, and make sure the opener isn't fighting the door before we call it done.
The Complications
Not every dented panel is a panel job. If the door is an older two-piece or one-piece style - rare in Basehor given the newer housing stock here, but not impossible on a lot that predates the newer construction - a single replacement panel may not exist for it, and full door replacement ends up cheaper than chasing a discontinued part. We'll tell you that instead of ordering something that won't fit right.
The other complication is winter. This area sits in a cold-climate band with real seasonal swings, and a steel panel that's already dented tends to crack further at the bend line once temperatures drop and the metal contracts. If your panel is dented now, waiting through a cold stretch before calling usually makes the eventual repair bigger, not smaller - that's a limitation of the material, not something we can talk around.
